The search for the right changing aid was not easy for me. At first I tried it without any wrapping aid. This worked in principle, but was too complicated for me and not repeatable enough. After a long search and experimentation, I came up with a fairly simple and inexpensive solution.

I bought a set of end pieces for curtain rods from my local hardware store. They've been doing their job for me for years now and I'm super happy with them. You can certainly make more beautiful and even more precise winding aids on the lathe. From my point of view completely unnecessary.

The end pieces of the curtain rod do their job in absolutely sufficient form.
From my point of view, it is only important to mention that the winding aids should be made of metal. Otherwise the wrapping aid will wear out too quickly due to the continuous cutting of the foil cones.

here you can find these end pieces.
